    A hot springs resort and spa trip is like a detoxifying retreat for the body and soul. From pristine natural pools to cozy log cabins, hot springs have something for everyone.

    Some travelers enjoy soaking in large hotels with various outdoor and private hot springs pools accessible to overnight guests only. Others prefer a more rustic experience and drinking in an undeveloped area.

    Where to Stay

    The calming, rejuvenating experience of a hot springs getaway is one of the best all-inclusive vacations. From bare-bones eco-friendly tent camps that focus on nature and the elements to full-fledged resorts that offer spa treatments, farm-sourced meals, New Age-y retreats, and cozy accommodations, these hotels bank on the restorative powers of their natural mineral waters and deliver on breathtaking scenery and serene soaks.

    Some hot springs resort and spa offers suites and cabins with private hot tubs overlooking views. This focuses on relaxation and wellness, so you can leave your phones behind and unwind in the calming water.

    It’s a dog-friendly vacation spot, so your furry friend can join you for every moment of the trip.

    What to Wear

    Soaking in a hot spring can be a meditative, peaceful experience. It is not the place for loud, boisterous, or obnoxious displays of towel snapping and aquatic chicken fights. It is also not the time for snogging or underwater shenanigans.

    Wear a bathing suit, and if the temperature of the spring is a little on the cool side, a cover-up or towel might be in order. Some springs may have rules regarding attire, and it is a good idea to check before you arrive.

    How Long to Soak

    Soaking is one of the best ways to soothe achy muscles and joints after hiking or biking. A soak can also rehydrate the body and help flush out toxins. Staying aware of how long you are soaking in hot spring pools or tubs is essential. Taking regular breaks every 10-15 minutes is recommended to avoid dehydration and heat stroke.

    What to Bring

    When planning your getaway, do remember to pack some essentials. Pack your bathing suit, sunscreen, flip-flops, towel, and drinking water. Getting a small first aid kit in case of accidents is also a good idea.

    You’ll find a variety of hot springs all across the country and some etiquette to be observed. From upscale resorts to free primitive pools, there are options for every type of traveler. These natural wonders will soothe your body and soul whether you want to soak after a ski day or relax.
